About This Course
The Quran Tafseer course is for students who wish to go beyond translation and explore the exegesis of the Holy Quran. Tafseer is the science of understanding the Quran as it was revealed — its linguistic depth, historical background and practical guidance for life.
The course draws on classical works of Tafseer, including Tafseer Ibn Kathir, Tafseer Jalalayn and Tafseer Ma'ariful Quran. Students study Asbab-ul-Nuzool (reasons of revelation), Nasikh wa Mansookh (abrogation) and the Fiqh rulings derived from each passage.
The aim is an understanding of the Quran that enriches daily worship and personal character, and that helps the student explain what they have read to others.
